Introducing the DIY Beeswax Wraps Kit

Beeswax wraps - Do it yourself

Now you can easily make your own beeswax wraps at home!

Maintaining sustainable practices at home can mean taking a little extra time here and there, slowing down and enjoying the process rather than hurrying for convenience. Making your own, as opposed to buying, can reduce your carbon footprint even further by recycling old fabric and reducing packaging.

You may have thought about making beeswax wraps at home but perhaps something stood in your way, like sourcing the wax for instance. Getting the right mixture of beeswax, tree resin and coconut oil is the hardest part of making beeswax wraps that last – so we’ve done the hard part for you…and all the ingredients are sustainably sourced.

Our new DIY Beeswax Wraps Kit comes with our special SuperBee wax blend, which is a mixture of sustainably harvested, pesticide-free beeswax, organic coconut oil and tree resin. The kit also includes three different sizes of 100% organic cotton and easy-to-follow instructions for you to make eco-friendly beeswax wraps at home.

The instructions include two methods – one method using an oven and one method using an iron.

BONUS: with enough extra wax for 6 or more wraps, you can start recycling any used T-shirts, sheets or leftover fabrics from sewing projects that you’ve been saving….give new life to old fabric!

The DIY kit is a great way to launch yourself into using more sustainable practices at home, plus it’s a fun activity to do with friends or the kids. It’s particularly popular with teachers looking for a green, eco-friendly activity to do with students.

The instructions are simple and easy to follow so you don’t have to worry if you’ve never done anything like this before. Just take a look at one of the methods! (Note – wax is sticky! You’ll want to make sure you have your workspace covered and use an old grater and cookie sheet that can be just for crafts.)

How to Make Beeswax Wraps: Method 1 – In the Oven

1.    First, grate the beeswax solution bar

2.     Take an oven tray, line it with baking paper or a reusable silicone mat and place fabric on top.

3.     Sprinkle wax onto fabric – less is more.

4.     Heat oven to 75°Celsius.

5.     Place tray in oven with the door open for approximately 2 minutes until wax melts.

6.     Using oven mitts, take the tray out. Using a basting brush, brush the melted wax over the edges of the cloth to make a clean corner finish and carefully lift the wax wrap off the tray.

7.    Hang wrap on string (be careful of dripping wax from the wax wrap to the floor). You can also hold the wax wrap up for half a minute and wait for the wax to dry.

Want an even easier way to make your own? You can also skip the grating and order our Wax Drops!
