This block of beeswax contains our proprietary blend of sustainably harvested beeswax, tree resin, and organic coconut oil to make the perfect consistency for crafting your own reusable and food-safe beeswax wraps at home. It takes care of the tricky part when making DIY beeswax wraps — after all, our secret blend has been tweaked, tried, and tested across thousands of wraps in our very own kitchen.

Turning this organic beeswax bar into wraps for food storage is easier than you might think. Give life to worn-out sheets, old clothing, or any other fabric you’ve got lying around by following the instructions included with this. Instructions for making beeswax wraps with our Beeswax Bar

First, set your iron to a low to medium setting
Place a sheet of baking paper or a reusable silicon mat on the ironing board
Place your fabric of choice onto the baking paper/silicon mat and sprinkle grated beeswax onto the fabric. Remember: less is more!
Place another sheet of baking paper/silicon mat on top of the fabric and wax
Iron the top of the baking paper/silicon mat to melt the beeswax all over the fabric (be careful not to allow the wax to ooze out of the baking paper/silicon mat as this will ruin your ironing board)
Using a basting brush, brush the wax over the edges to ensure a clean corner finish
Carefully lift the beeswax wrap off the baking paper/silicon mat and hang it on a piece of string or hold it up for 30 seconds.

good for making your own beeswax wraps

We made our own wraps using the beeswax bar and it's so fun (for the kids too!)! The bars turned soft at a hot day (30 oC), so it was not easy to use the grater, but it can be broken off and press into mini pancakes and put on the wax before ironing in the fabric. The consistency of the homemade wrap is identical to what we bought from SuperBee. Very happy with the purchase and recommended!

Works but expensive

I followed the video instructions and had no problems at all. However by the time I pay for shipping this costs more than just buying the premade ones. I did appreciate being able to use my own fabric and choose my own sizes though! And the product is very good, just quite expensive.

Easy to use

Its a great DIY project. Abit pricey in regards to shipping but over its cheaper than buying the premade ones in the market. Though the blog said less is more but I realised that I needed to use slightly more to get the coverage, stickiness I needed to ensure the wrap will prevent any leakage. I highly recommend covering your ironing board with baking paper before starting. I feel the individual drops just gets the fuse out of grating bars and you can easily redo areas by adding a drop of the wax on desired area.

Waxing Bar

Just refreshed the XXL wrap i had bought through this website. Super easy and joy to see the wrap as new. I used the iron and the baking sheets and I used the cheese grater for the wax bar. Little amounts of wax ironed softly into the fabric/wrap. Easy peasy.

Simple easy to use bar, will buy again.

've finally had the time to make my wraps, this is a really good quality, easy to use bar. I made 9 in total, around 25cm squared. I found it quite difficult to grate so decided to melt in over a Bain Marie and pour onto a baking tray with parchment on it, so it would be thinner and easier to manipulate. I washed my fabric, cut to size, then used pinking shears to prevent fraying, then placed my cotton square, with bits of wax on between two sheets of parchment, and ironed over this. It was very easy & I'm really impressed with the results. Will be buying again.

Good For DIY

Works well, smells good, maybe a bit pricy if you are making a lot of wraps. - Easy to use, smells nice, the wraps are much better than purchased wraps. Nicely packaged, but small. I used the lay out the fabric on parchment paper on top of a cookie sheet in a 200 oven method and used an old spatula to smooth out the melted wax. Easy, but not 10 wraps un,ess they are really small

Perfect DIY Wraps

Perfect for DIY wraps - I really loved this product. This was my first time making my own beeswax wraps, and this was so simple to work with and made the process so quick, easy, and mess-free. Frequently asked questions

Can you freeze beeswax wraps?

Sure you can! They can be frozen and defrosted numerous times. We’ve found they work best for storing sliced fruit (perfect for smoothies or adding to cakes), leftover vegetables and even bread. Because these wraps are breathable, freezer burn is a possibility if you keep food items in them for longer than a month, so we recommend consuming whatever you’ve frozen sooner rather than later to ensure freshness.

Can you wrap eggs, fish or meat in beeswax wraps?

To protect ourselves (and you!), the answer to this is no. Because our beeswax wraps can only be washed using warm water (anything higher than 140°F (60°C) will melt the beeswax), it’s not safe to use these beeswax wraps for meat, fish or eggs.

My beeswax wraps aren’t sticking — what should I do?

In colder climates — Europe and North America we’re looking at you — our wraps can become hard and may not stick as easily to surfaces. The best way to deal with this is to massage them with your hands so that they warm a little, or completely crumple them up into a tight ball a couple of times; they should become more manageable and stick better. If they don’t, let us know and we’ll replace them!

They also won’t stick to surfaces that are wet, so make sure the container you’re covering is dry before attempting to apply the wrap.

Do beeswax wraps smell?

You’ll notice a pleasant beeswax scent when you first open your new wraps but this does not affect your food and will gradually lessen over time. All of our wraps are certified food-safe and made from 100% natural and organic ingredients.

Are SuperBee beeswax wraps compostable?

Yes! When your beeswax wraps have reached the end of their life you can put them straight into your home compost bin or your food waste collection. We recommend cutting them into thin strips before composting to help speed up the process!

Before you do, have a go at restoring your old beeswax wraps. Just pop them on a baking tray in an electric oven heated to 280°F (140°C) and wait two to three minutes for the wax to melt. Once it has, quickly remove the wrap and hang it up to dry; in just one minute, it should be refreshed and ready to use again!
