I have not used it as of yet. Quite confused about what to do with it. I looked up uses on the internet...some women sewed bags, some just use small pieces to wrap a piece of fruit...my intent when I bought it was to use it as a wrap for my sourdough bread....but I would have to make a bag for it...considered sending it back....just don't know what to do with it.

Hi Joy, the beeswax roll is designed like a roll of plastic wrap, where you cut it to the sizes you need. You can use the wraps to cover bowls and plates of food, wrap sandwiches and half cut vegetables and fruits, make snack pouches, wrap loaves of bread, small jars or tupperware containers that are missing the lid, etc. You don't need to sew a bag to wrap bread - the wax wrap sticks to itself, so you can cover it just as you would with plastic/saran wrap. The product page shows how to use it and you can also follow this video for wrapping bread: https://youtu.be/6hQd4VC7of0?si=DrP4XS9C2K4c-_e3 Please let us know if you have any more questions about how to use it! Kind regards, Team SuperBee

Can you freeze beeswax wraps?

Sure you can! They can be frozen and defrosted numerous times. We’ve found they work best for storing sliced fruit (perfect for smoothies or adding to cakes), leftover vegetables and even bread. Because these wraps are breathable, freezer burn is a possibility if you keep food items in them for longer than a month, so we recommend consuming whatever you’ve frozen sooner rather than later to ensure freshness.

Can you wrap eggs, fish or meat in beeswax wraps?

To protect ourselves (and you!), the answer to this is no. Because our beeswax wraps can only be washed using warm water (anything higher than 140°F (60°C) will melt the beeswax), it’s not safe to use these beeswax wraps for meat, fish or eggs.

My beeswax wraps aren’t sticking — what should I do?

In colder climates — Europe and North America we’re looking at you — our wraps can become hard and may not stick as easily to surfaces. The best way to deal with this is to massage them with your hands so that they warm a little, or completely crumple them up into a tight ball a couple of times; they should become more manageable and stick better. If they don’t, let us know and we’ll replace them!

They also won’t stick to surfaces that are wet, so make sure the container you’re covering is dry before attempting to apply the wrap.

Do beeswax wraps smell?

You’ll notice a pleasant beeswax scent when you first open your new wraps but this does not affect your food and will gradually lessen over time. All of our wraps are certified food-safe and made from 100% natural and organic ingredients.

Why aren't the fabric edges straight?

We use a zigzag edge for extra cling. As for the occasional wonky edge, we try our best at SuperBee to make every beeswax wrap the best it can be. However, our products are handmade (with love!) and completely unique.

How do SuperBee beeswax food wraps work?

SuperBee beeswax wraps are the ideal zero-waste food storage solution and the perfect alternative to plastic Saran wrap.

Unlike plastic, beeswax is a natural, non-toxic and fully biodegradable substance, which also has antifungal antibacterial properties. These characteristics make our reusable beeswax wraps ideal for covering leftovers or items of food, as they can reduce the risks of contamination and prevent food from spoiling.

Beeswax is also waterproof, but still breathable. This means it will protect your food from getting wet or wilted, all while locking in moisture, flavour and freshness.

Once you’ve finished with the wrap or beeswax bag, just wash it using warm water and an eco-friendly dishwashing detergent and leave it to dry. It’ll be ready to wrap again when you next need it!

How do I use my beeswax wraps?

Our reusable beeswax wraps are extremely versatile and can be used in much the same way as traditional plastic wrap. In fact, the possibilities are endless! They’ll cover bowls of leftovers, wrap up fruit, vegetables and salad, pack snacks, keep bread fresh for longer, and even store cheese.

Heading on vacation? Our beeswax wraps aren’t just your favorite kitchen companion, but are ideal for zero-waste travel as they can be used to transport solid shampoo and conditioner bars.

Our reusable beeswax food bags also make the perfect sandwich bags for picnics or school lunches.

To use your new wraps, just place one over or around the item you’re looking to preserve. Using the warmth of your hands, gently mold it into place; the beeswax will naturally stick to the container or itself, creating a seal against air and bacteria that will keep food fresh.

For the best results, use a wax wrap that’s much larger than the objects or food you’re wrapping. For example, a small wax wrap should completely cover the open half of a sliced onion or lime to be effective. When covering bowls or plates, make sure the wrap covers the mouth of the container and reaches at least halfway down its sides; this is necessary to create a successful seal.

Most importantly: don’t use them with anything that’s very hot, as warm temperatures can melt the wax right off the wrap! This means you can’t use them in the microwave, oven or near naked flames.

How long do beeswax wraps last?

Beeswax wraps can be reused for up to two years with proper care. Follow our recommendations for washing SuperBee wax wraps below to prolong their lifespan, and avoid putting them in contact with hot surfaces or water over 140°F (60°C). This can cause the wax to melt and affect their durability.

Between use, take care of your beeswax wraps by storing them in a drawer with your tea towels. We keep ours in a basket in a closed, dry space.

How can you clean SuperBee beeswax wraps?

They’re extremely easy to clean! Just like any plate or dish, our beeswax wraps and bags should be wiped down with a sponge or cloth, using a bit of warm water and eco-friendly dishwashing detergent. Rinse off any residual soap and leave them to dry naturally. They’ll be ready to wrap again very soon!

What are SuperBee wax wraps made from?

Our beeswax wraps are handmade with love from just four 100% natural and biodegradable ingredients: 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton fabric, pesticide-free beeswax from sustainable hives, organic coconut oil and tree resin. All of the products we use to make our beeswax wraps are certified food-safe, too.

Are SuperBee beeswax wraps compostable?

Yes! When your beeswax wraps have reached the end of their life you can put them straight into your home compost bin or your food waste collection. We recommend cutting them into thin strips before composting to help speed up the process!

Before you do, have a go at restoring your old beeswax wraps. Just pop them on a baking tray in an electric oven heated to 280°F (140°C) and wait two to three minutes for the wax to melt. Once it has, quickly remove the wrap and hang it up to dry; in just one minute, it should be refreshed and ready to use again!
