Sure you can! They can be frozen and defrosted numerous times. We’ve found they work best for storing sliced fruit (perfect for smoothies or adding to cakes), leftover vegetables and even bread. Because these wraps are breathable, freezer burn is a possibility if you keep food items in them for longer than a month, so we recommend consuming whatever you’ve frozen sooner rather than later to ensure freshness.

To protect ourselves (and you!), the answer to this is no. Because our beeswax wraps can only be washed using warm water (anything higher than 140°F (60°C) will melt the beeswax), it’s not safe to use these beeswax wraps for meat, fish or eggs.

In colder climates — Europe and North America we’re looking at you — our wraps can become hard and may not stick as easily to surfaces. The best way to deal with this is to massage them with your hands so that they warm a little, or completely crumple them up into a tight ball a couple of times; they should become more manageable and stick better. If they don’t, let us know and we’ll replace them!

They also won’t stick to surfaces that are wet, so make sure the container you’re covering is dry before attempting to apply the wrap.

You’ll notice a pleasant beeswax scent when you first open your new wraps but this does not affect your food and will gradually lessen over time. All of our wraps are certified food-safe and made from 100% natural and organic ingredients.

Yes! When your beeswax wraps have reached the end of their life you can put them straight into your home compost bin or your food waste collection. We recommend cutting them into thin strips before composting to help speed up the process!

Before you do, have a go at restoring your old beeswax wraps. Just pop them on a baking tray in an electric oven heated to 280°F (140°C) and wait two to three minutes for the wax to melt. Once it has, quickly remove the wrap and hang it up to dry; in just one minute, it should be refreshed and ready to use again!

They’re extremely easy to clean! Just like any plate or dish, our beeswax wraps and bags should be wiped down with a sponge or cloth, using a bit of warm water and eco-friendly dishwashing detergent. Rinse off any residual soap and leave them to dry naturally. They’ll be ready to wrap again very soon!

Unlike plastic, beeswax is a natural, non-toxic and fully biodegradable substance, which also has antifungal antibacterial properties. These characteristics make our reusable beeswax wraps ideal for covering leftovers or items of food, as they can reduce the risks of contamination and prevent food from spoiling.

Beeswax is also waterproof, but still breathable. This means it will protect your food from getting wet or wilted, all while locking in moisture, flavour and freshness.

To use your new wraps, just place one over or around the item you’re looking to preserve. Using the warmth of your hands, gently mold it into place; the beeswax will naturally stick to the container or itself, creating a seal against air and bacteria that will keep food fresh.

For the best results, use a wax wrap that’s much larger than the objects or food you’re wrapping. For example, a small wax wrap should completely cover the open half of a sliced onion or lime to be effective. When covering bowls or plates, make sure the wrap covers the mouth of the container and reaches at least halfway down its sides; this is necessary to create a successful seal.

Most importantly: don’t use them with anything that’s very hot, as warm temperatures can melt the wax right off the wrap! This means you can’t use them in the microwave, oven or near naked flames.

Beeswax wraps can be reused for up to two years with proper care. Follow our recommendations for washing SuperBee wax wraps below to prolong their lifespan, and avoid putting them in contact with hot surfaces or water over 140°F (60°C). This can cause the wax to melt and affect their durability.

Between use, take care of your beeswax wraps by storing them in a drawer with your tea towels. We keep ours in a basket in a closed, dry space.

That's exactly what they're made for. Anywhere you'd reach for Saran wrap or cling film — covering a bowl of leftovers, wrapping half a lemon, packing a sandwich — a beeswax wrap does the same job and washes clean for up to two years of reuse. The only exceptions: raw meat, fish and eggs, and anything hot (heat melts the wax).

Beeswax is naturally water-resistant yet breathable — the perfect combination for food storage. A beeswax wrap protects your food from getting wet or wilted while still letting it breathe, locking in moisture, flavour and freshness without the condensation that builds up under plastic.

The same way as your wraps: wipe or rinse with cool water and a little eco-friendly dishwashing soap, then let it air-dry fully before the next loaf. Shake the crumbs out between washes and avoid hot water — anything above 140°F (60°C) melts the wax.

The handles of our biodegradable bamboo toothbrushes can be put into your home compost or commercial composting bin and it will biodegrade back into the soil. The nylon bristles will not compost, however; you’ll need to pull these out with pliers and add them to your plastic recycling.

The Hexawash can also be used with both soft and hard water at any temperature. In fact, this 100% natural laundry detergent alternative is just as effective in a cold wash as in a hot one (which is a great way to lower your CO₂ emissions and environmental impact even further!).

It’s also safe to use in all washing machines, including top-loaders and front-loaders, as well as high-efficiency (HE) washing machines (no, it won’t damage the sensors!).

While the Hexawash is an effortless way to turn your laundry chemical and plastic-free, there are a couple of tips for getting sparklingly clean and fresh laundry every time:

• Soaking the Hexawash first can enhance the cleaning process, so use the soak function — if your machine has it — with just the Hexwash before washing your clothes. Alternatively, soaking the Hexawash in a bucket of water before putting it into your machine will do the same job.
• For clothing that’s heavily stained or carries a strong odor, leave it to soak alongside the Hexawash before washing, too.
• You can skip the rinse cycle on your washing machine when using the Hexawash, as no soap suds are created and there’s no residue to wash away. If your washing machine doesn’t allow you to skip the rinse cycle, don’t worry; Hexawash will still work exactly the same, you’ll just use a little more water.
• If you’re handwashing, put the items in a bucket of water with the Hexawash for around an hour before beginning the handwashing process.
• Hexawash is naturally odor-free and we don’t recommend using it with fabric softener — we prefer to keep our waterways chemical-free! However, if you want to use fabric softener alongside, note that the fragrance may be reduced due to the strong odor-removing powers of the magnesium pellets.
• As a final step, if you use a clothes dryer, we recommend adding a little of your favorite essential oils to the outside of our wool dryer balls and placing them in with your load of washing. Not only will the balls reduce the drying time, but the essential oils will give your clothes a beautifully subtle fragrance.
• Hang it up to dry with your clothes.

Hexawash gives you great value for money. Unlike typical laundry detergents, it will last more than 300 washes — that’s at least a year for most households!

You’ll know that your Hexawash has reached the end of its life by its change in weight. Before use, a Hexawash contains 120g of magnesium and weighs around 150g. As it cleans countless loads of washing, the magnesium gradually dissolves and when the pouch weighs less than 80g, it contains too little magnesium to continue to clean effectively for a normal-sized load. You could reduce your load size by 50% and continue to use it, or you could retire it to your garden.

When your Hexawash weighs less than 80g, simply bury it in your garden. The organic cotton will biodegrade, while the magnesium will fertilize the soil, helping your garden to flourish.

Most asked! Yes, you can put your Hexawash pouch in the dryer if it’s rainy season and you cannot hang it in a dry, sunny place. This will not change your Hexawash’s ability to clean, nor affect your dryer. We do recommend to dry the pouch in front of a fan instead of in the dryer, to minimize wear on the canvas cotton pouch for the duration of 300-365 loads.

Our drying balls are extremely nifty. Just pop your SuperBee wool dryer balls directly into your dryer when you’re putting on a load and they’ll reduce drying time by 30%. This is because they allow hot air to circulate between your clothes as they spin. Better still, they can soften fabrics and cut down on static that can be caused by overdrying. You’ll also find they extend the lifespan of your clothes because you can set your dryer to a lower temperature when using them.

For the best results, we recommend not overfilling your machine, as this reduces the amount of space available for the balls to move around and can reduce their impact.

Want to add a subtle, non-toxic fragrance to your clothes? Simply sprinkle a couple of drops of your favorite essential oils directly onto the wool balls and let them dry for a couple of hours. Next time you use the balls, they’ll add a subtle, chemical-free fragrance to your wash.
