Beeswax Wraps
How do SuperBee beeswax food wraps work?
SuperBee beeswax wraps are the ideal zero-waste food storage solution and the perfect alternative to plastic Saran wrap.
Unlike plastic, beeswax is a natural, non-toxic and fully biodegradable substance, which also has antifungal antibacterial properties. These characteristics make our reusable beeswax wraps ideal for covering leftovers or items of food, as they can reduce the risks of contamination and prevent food from spoiling.
Beeswax is also waterproof, but still breathable. This means it will protect your food from getting wet or wilted, all while locking in moisture, flavour and freshness.
Once you’ve finished with the wrap or beeswax bag, just wash it using warm water and an eco-friendly dishwashing detergent and leave it to dry. It’ll be ready to wrap again when you next need it!

How do I use my beeswax wraps?
Our reusable beeswax wraps are extremely versatile and can be used in much the same way as traditional plastic wrap. In fact, the possibilities are endless! They’ll cover bowls of leftovers, wrap up fruit, vegetables and salad, pack snacks, keep bread fresh for longer, and even store cheese.
Heading on vacation? Our beeswax wraps aren’t just your favorite kitchen companion, but are ideal for zero-waste travel as they can be used to transport solid shampoo and conditioner bars.
Our reusable beeswax food bags also make the perfect sandwich bags for picnics or school lunches.
To use your new wraps, just place one over or around the item you’re looking to preserve. Using the warmth of your hands, gently mold it into place; the beeswax will naturally stick to the container or itself, creating a seal against air and bacteria that will keep food fresh.
For the best results, use a wax wrap that’s much larger than the objects or food you’re wrapping. For example, a small wax wrap should completely cover the open half of a sliced onion or lime to be effective. When covering bowls or plates, make sure the wrap covers the mouth of the container and reaches at least halfway down its sides; this is necessary to create a successful seal.
Most importantly: don’t use them with anything that’s very hot, as warm temperatures can melt the wax right off the wrap! This means you can’t use them in the microwave, oven or near naked flames.

How long do beeswax wraps last?
Beeswax wraps can be reused for up to two years with proper care. Follow our recommendations for washing SuperBee wax wraps below to prolong their lifespan, and avoid putting them in contact with hot surfaces or water over 140°F (60°C). This can cause the wax to melt and affect their durability.
Between use, take care of your beeswax wraps by storing them in a drawer with your tea towels. We keep ours in a basket in a closed, dry space.

How can you clean SuperBee beeswax wraps?
They’re extremely easy to clean! Just like any plate or dish, our beeswax wraps and bags should be wiped down with a sponge or cloth, using a bit of warm water and eco-friendly dishwashing detergent. Rinse off any residual soap and leave them to dry naturally. They’ll be ready to wrap again very soon!
What are SuperBee wax wraps made from?
Our beeswax wraps are handmade with love from just four 100% natural and biodegradable ingredients: 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton fabric, pesticide-free beeswax from sustainable hives, organic coconut oil and tree resin. All of the products we use to make our beeswax wraps are certified food-safe, too.
Are SuperBee beeswax wraps compostable?
Yes! When your beeswax wraps have reached the end of their life you can put them straight into your home compost bin or your food waste collection. We recommend cutting them into thin strips before composting to help speed up the process!
Before you do, have a go at restoring your old beeswax wraps. Just pop them on a baking tray in an electric oven heated to 280°F (140°C) and wait two to three minutes for the wax to melt. Once it has, quickly remove the wrap and hang it up to dry; in just one minute, it should be refreshed and ready to use again!

Can you freeze beeswax wraps?
Sure you can! They can be frozen and defrosted numerous times. We’ve found they work best for storing sliced fruit (perfect for smoothies or adding to cakes), leftover vegetables and even bread. Because these wraps are breathable, freezer burn is a possibility if you keep food items in them for longer than a month, so we recommend consuming whatever you’ve frozen sooner rather than later to ensure freshness.
Can you wrap eggs, fish or meat in beeswax wraps?
To protect ourselves (and you!), the answer to this is no. Because our beeswax wraps can only be washed using warm water (anything higher than 140°F (60°C) will melt the beeswax), it’s not safe to use these beeswax wraps for meat, fish or eggs.
My beeswax wraps aren’t sticking — what should I do?
In colder climates — Europe and North America we’re looking at you — our wraps can become hard and may not stick as easily to surfaces. The best way to deal with this is to massage them with your hands so that they warm a little, or completely crumple them up into a tight ball a couple of times; they should become more manageable and stick better. If they don’t, let us know and we’ll replace them!
They also won’t stick to surfaces that are wet, so make sure the container you’re covering is dry before attempting to apply the wrap.

Do beeswax wraps smell?
You’ll notice a pleasant beeswax scent when you first open your new wraps but this does not affect your food and will gradually lessen over time. All of our wraps are certified food-safe and made from 100% natural and organic ingredients.
Why aren't the fabric edges straight?
We use a zigzag edge for extra cling. As for the occasional wonky edge, we try our best at SuperBee to make every beeswax wrap the best it can be. However, our products are handmade (with love!) and completely unique.
Biodegradable Bamboo Toothbrushes
What are the benefits of bamboo toothbrushes?
Where do we start? Research conducted by Foreo found that one billion toothbrushes are thrown away every year in the US; that’s 50 million pounds of landfill annually produced solely by plastic brushes. Can you imagine how different those numbers would be if everyone was using a biodegradable toothbrush?Don’t just imagine: act. Unlike plastic toothbrushes, our bamboo toothbrushes are designed to be biodegradable; this means the bamboo handle can be popped into your home composting bin and will return back to the ground. This is eco-friendly dental care at its finest, particularly if you pair your brush with our waterless, eco toothpaste tablets and 100% vegan and biodegradable corn fiber dental floss. While the soft nylon bristles cannot be composted, they can be recycled. This does mean that our SuperBee bamboo toothbrushes aren’t fully zero-waste, but they’re significantly more environmentally sound and sustainable than a traditional plastic brush. We’re proud to offer our customers a key tool in fighting plastic waste.
Are bamboo toothbrushes safe to use?
Sure thing! Like every SuperBee product that’s handmade with love in Northern Thailand, our biodegradable bamboo toothbrushes are perfectly safe to use in your oral hygiene routine.
How can I dispose of my biodegradable toothbrush at the end of its life?
The handles of our biodegradable bamboo toothbrushes can be put into your home compost or commercial composting bin and it will biodegrade back into the soil. The nylon bristles will not compost, however; you’ll need to pull these out with pliers and add them to your plastic recycling.
Alternatively, give your bamboo toothbrush a new lease of life by reusing it around the house. It’s great for cleaning hard-to-reach spaces in your kitchen or bathroom.

Hexawash
What should I do with my Hexawash when it reaches the end of its life?
When your Hexawash weighs less than 80g, simply bury it in your garden. The organic cotton will biodegrade, while the magnesium will fertilize the soil, helping your garden to flourish.
How long does Hexawash last?
Hexawash gives you great value for money. Unlike typical laundry detergents, it will last more than 300 washes — that’s at least a year for most households! You’ll know that your Hexawash has reached the end of its life by its change in weight. Before use, a Hexawash contains 120g of magnesium and weighs around 150g. As it cleans countless loads of washing, the magnesium gradually dissolves and when the pouch weighs less than 80g, it contains too little magnesium to continue to clean effectively for a normal-sized load. You could reduce your load size by 50% and continue to use it, or you could retire it to your garden.
How do I use Hexawash?
Using this miraculous little pouch couldn’t be easier; it functions exactly like your usual detergent. Just pop your Hexwash into the washing machine drum and press start! The Hexawash can also be used with both soft and hard water at any temperature. In fact, this 100% natural laundry detergent alternative is just as effective in a cold wash as in a hot one (which is a great way to lower your CO₂ emissions and environmental impact even further!).It’s also safe to use in all washing machines, including top-loaders and front-loaders, as well as high-efficiency (HE) washing machines (no, it won’t damage the sensors!).While the Hexawash is an effortless way to turn your laundry chemical and plastic-free, there are a couple of tips for getting sparklingly clean and fresh laundry every time:
- Soaking the Hexawash first can enhance the cleaning process, so use the soak function — if your machine has it — with just the Hexwash before washing your clothes. Alternatively, soaking the Hexawash in a bucket of water before putting it into your machine will do the same job.
- For clothing that’s heavily stained or carries a strong odor, leave it to soak alongside the Hexawash before washing, too.
- You can skip the rinse cycle on your washing machine when using the Hexawash, as no soap suds are created and there’s no residue to wash away. If your washing machine doesn’t allow you to skip the rinse cycle, don’t worry; Hexawash will still work exactly the same, you’ll just use a little more water.
- If you’re handwashing, put the items in a bucket of water with the Hexawash for around an hour before beginning the handwashing process.
- Hexawash is naturally odor-free and we don’t recommend using it with fabric softener — we prefer to keep our waterways chemical-free! However, if you want to use fabric softener alongside, note that the fragrance may be reduced due to the strong odor-removing powers of the magnesium pellets.
- As a final step, if you use a clothes dryer, we recommend adding a little of your favorite essential oils to the outside of our wool dryer balls and placing them in with your load of washing. Not only will the balls reduce the drying time, but the essential oils will give your clothes a beautifully subtle fragrance.
- Hang it up to dry with your clothes.
Is Hexawash a 100% natural laundry detergent alternative?
Yes! Hexawash is an innovative approach to chemical-free laundry detergent. Each Hexawash contains an organic cotton pouch filled with magnesium pellets — and absolutely zero synthetic chemicals.
We know conventional laundry detergents contain substances that can clog waterways, irritate your skin or expose you to phosphates and potential carcinogens. Hexawash, by contrast, is a 100% natural, vegan, non-toxic and eco-friendly laundry detergent alternative that still cleans clothes as well as — if not better — than your normal detergent! Made from fully biodegradable materials, the Hexawash is also plastic-free and ideal for those seeking a zero-waste laundry detergent.
Does your family have sensitive skin? Hexawash is hypoallergenic, meaning it contains zero of the nasties that cause itchy skin and allergic reactions. If you’re looking for a laundry product that’s gentle on your skin and chemical-free, Hexawash is the ultimate solution.

How does Hexawash work?
A nifty piece of science is what makes the SuperBee Hexawash work so well. Its cotton pouch is filled with hundreds of small magnesium pellets. When mixed with water, these balls react to form hydrogen gas (H₂) and magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)₂) and to generate an alkaline solution of pH 10.5 in your washing machine — the ideal pH for washing clothes.
Negative hydroxide ions are also produced during this process and act to reduce the surface tension of the water, making it easier for dirt and oil to break down and be washed away. In fact, magnesium has been proven to be 10 times better at removing stubborn stains than regular laundry detergent!
Voilà: perfectly clean clothes and an organic laundry detergent alternative that’s kind to your skin, our waterways and the planet itself.

Wool Dryer Balls
How do you use wool dryer balls?
Our drying balls are extremely nifty. Just pop your SuperBee wool dryer balls directly into your dryer when you’re putting on a load and they’ll reduce drying time by 30%. This is because they allow hot air to circulate between your clothes as they spin. Better still, they can soften fabrics and cut down on static that can be caused by overdrying. You’ll also find they extend the lifespan of your clothes because you can set your dryer to a lower temperature when using them”
For the best results, we recommend not overfilling your machine, as this reduces the amount of space available for the balls to move around and can reduce their impact.
Want to add a subtle, non-toxic fragrance to your clothes? Simply sprinkle a couple of drops of your favorite essential oils directly onto the wool balls and let them dry for a couple of hours. Next time you use the balls, they’ll add a subtle, chemical-free fragrance to your wash.

What are the SuperBee wool dryer balls made from?
Our wool laundry balls are made from 100% natural, fragrance-free and unbleached New Zealand sheep’s wool. They’re completely plastic-free and come in recyclable, unbleached card packaging. Use them with our organic and chemical-free alternative to laundry detergent for a completely natural and zero-waste wash.
How long do wool dryer balls last?
The SuperBee reusable dryer balls should last up to 1,000 loads — which is anywhere between two and five years, depending on how much laundry you do. Because they’re made from 100% natural materials, they’re biodegradable and can be home-composted at the end of their life.
You’ll know it’s time to bid farewell when their wool starts to unravel. Just add them to your home compost or commercial composting bin and they’ll find their way back into the soil.

Are wool dryer balls safe to use in my washing machine?
Of course! Unlike single-use dryer sheets containing harsh chemicals and allergens that can trigger reactions in your skin, reusable wool dryer balls are hypoallergenic and a fully eco-friendly alternative for your laundry.
Wool dryer balls are also completely safe to use with your washing machine; contrary to public belief, they don’t pose a fire hazard! You’ll also be pleasantly surprised by how quiet they are. Our laundry balls are designed to be gentle in their impact on the inside of your dryer.
